Domestic Abuse In The Body..
Are We ignoring it?
Dont want to get involved?
At who's expense?
We the body of Christ have a responsibility to help look after the welfare of hurting people. We are after all are stewards, Gods hands extended. Many, I am sad to say within the Church have had knowledge of this going on in someone's life, yet turned a deaf ear, swept it under the rug so to speak.
This must stop Church! We must bring this to light, many have died at the hands of an abuser and others as myself came very close, what if they/I were one that had come to you for help and you did nothing?
Has there ever been a time in which maybe a neighbor was being abused, we knew it and did absolutely nothing?
Would/Does GOD ignore it? I don't think so. We are HIS hands and feet extended! We must be there for them, the abused need to get out for their own welfare, and the poor children who, even if not struck directly, are absorbing all the violence and the cycle keeps going. That cycle must be broken. We must make it known that it is NOT acceptable to the abuser, that there is consequences, and help for them! Those in abuse need to know they have someone to talk to, to bring this to light and prayerfully get the much needed help for the abuser. Most of the time, the abuser was abused himself/herself, and needs help.
Hurting people, hurt people. This cycle must stop! And the Church should not dismiss those that do come forward and tell us they are in an abusive situation, and seeking help. Get informed, stand ready to give them info to aid in their getting away from this before they too are a statistic. Personally, I know the feeling of looking for someone to tell and talk to, but are embarrassed and afraid to do so. They many times feel ashamed and afraid. They need to know that they can come to us. But please know this, the shame isn't going and telling someone so as to get help, the shame is staying in it, knowing that one day it could lead to someone's death, knowing it doesn't get better, it gets worse.
Domestic Abuse can be a silent killer, and I pray with all my heart, it will no longer be a subject of silence.
Please, Be Aware and Care
If you are a victim of abuse, go to your Pastor, a friend, a family member, call the Domestic Abuse Hotline below, BUT tell somebody, so they can help you, don't let fear keep you from help, let it motivate you OUT of the situation, to a healthy and safe place, free of fear.
God loves you and wants you safe and well.
